Fashion Tag: What I Wear.

Hey there! :)

The haze is terrible here, ain't it? My head feels as though it's been stuffed with cotton. But on the upside, no school today! :D (And I hope for the next 2 weeks, but that's wishful thinking) My advice to you would be: Keep busy, stay at home (if you can) and don't walk about in open air if you don't have to. And also, if you have air-conditioning..USE IT. It's wonderful for sleeping :) Lol.

So in case you haven't noticed, there's a crazy tag thing going on with me and Joy. She keeps doing interesting tags that I can't resist -__- WHY JOY? WHY. So here goes :) And please, keep them coming!

Question 1 What is your favorite style to wear?
- At the moment, I'm into black clothes, dark acid washed jeans, studded boots and in general, a pretty casual, gothic look. (Also like wearing black eyeliner now, LOL) Sort of an Avril Lavigne punk style.

Question 2
Who is your fashion role model?
-Currently it's Avril Lavigne :) and for the sweet girly part, Taylor Swift.

Question 3
What do you always have on?
-Specs O_O and I usually have two studs on in my ear or more. I wear a watch whenever I go out too,

Question 4
What are your favorite jeans?
- I have 5 pair of jeans that I love equally, but my favorite would have to be dark grey, skinny jeans that look something like this:

Question 5
What are your favorite sunglasses?
-I have a pair of clip on sunglasses but they're missing :P haha, so yeah.

Question 6

What are your favorite shoes?
-My studded boots from Agape Boutique :3

Question 7
Who influenced you to write about fashion?
- No one really, or just so many people, it's impossible to pinpoint one.

Question 8
What is your favorite store?
-Haven't I answered that before? Haha, um, I usually shop at Brands Outlet, Cotton On and the likes, but at the moment, I'm into online shopping in places like FriendlyFashion and Carousell :)

Question 9
Who is your favorite fashion person on YouTube?
- I don't really have a favorite.. and I've subscribed to too many fashion bloggers/Youtubers to recall which I like most :) If you want, you can view my subscriptions here at my Youtube channel

Question 10
What is your favorite fabric?
-Light airy fabric that doesn't make me feel hot and silky smooth materials that feels wonderful.

Question 11
Who is your favorite model?
- I'm not THAT into fashion, so I have none.

Question 12
If you had €5,000 to spend on any one item, what would it be?
- Food? Clothes? With that much money, why spend it on only one thing? :P

Question 13
Heels or flats?

Question 14
What purse do you currently use?
-I do not totter about with purses. Sling bags and the likes of it.

Question 15
Is fashion in your blood or your jeans?
-In my jeans? My mum isn't into fashion, so I can't say.

Fashion Again:

- A couple of skirts and dresses I've bought recently. Haven't had the occasion to wear them yet.

5. I put a lot of thought into what I wear, throw my clothes on quickly, or just like to be comfortable?
- It varies. For an important event, the former. For daily wear, the latter.

-Dresses, t-shirts, vests, skirts, jeans, outerwear.

8. Most comfortable article of clothing I own is my….
- Black velvetylike jacket and long vest.

- Depends. Sometimes, I like to be feminine. Usually though, I like casual and badass clothes.

Tis The Season To Be Taggy.

Hey there! :) So I found a few beauty and non-beauty tags, so I'm combining them all into one.

This is how I feel at the moment :)

Would You Rather: Makeup Edition Tag.
1. Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?
- I would rather lose all my palettes and eyeshadows, since I hardly use them anyway :) I can't live without eyeliners and mascaras even though I rarely wear makeup.
2. Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?
- Chop off all my hair. Because hair can always grow back, and to not be able to cut it would kinda suck.
 3. Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
- Don't really wear blush and that sort of thing, but I'd say pink-ish?
4. If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or make-up?
- Why not both? HAHA, just kidding. I'd say clothes since I only use makeup for special occasions or when I feel like it, but I wear clothes all the time.

5. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner or eyeliner as lipstick?
-Eyeliner as lipstick. I've always wondered what it would be like to have black lipstick :P

6. Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
- Both stores are extremely out of my budget, so neither? If I had to pick, it'd be Sephora. I think Sephora would have a larger variety of makeup.
7. Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?
- I wouldn't mind either, but I'll say one lip color. Eyeshadow colors are yummy :3

8. Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
Summer clothes in the winter. Can always wear more than one set of clothes :) Winter clothes in summer on the other hand, would be like drowning myself in curry.
9. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?
- I tend to gravitate to darker colors, so dark. But if I had a choice, no nail polish at all :)
10. Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?
- I'll give up my favorite lip product, cause I hardly ever wear the likes of lip gloss and lipstick. Lip balm is a different story though.
11. Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?
- Ponytail, my hair kinks up when I bun it up.
12. Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?
 - Easy! Never paint my nails again. But then again, I never use lipgloss much either. So both!
13. Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?
- Sharpie, because sharpie brows are sexy :P

14. Would you rather live without make-up or nail polish?
- I'd much rather live without nail polish. Can't imagine life without eyeliner. LOL.
Beauty Brands Tag:
1. What is your favorite drugstore Makeup brand?

- Silkygirl, Essence and Maybelline :)

2.What is your favorite high end brand?
- Urban Decay products look nice, but I've never tried them before :(
3. A product that's raved about but you've never tried?
- Big Sexy Hair products :'(
4. A product not worth the hype?
- Can't think of any.

5. Favorite hair brand?
- TRESemme, Pantene.

6.Favorite Nail Varnish brand?

- Elianto :)

- Cotton On, Forever 21, Brands Outlet, Divalicious, H&M, F-Block, Kitschen , Dr Martens, Nichii, Topshop and an assortment of several online shops :)

Makeup History:
1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
- Well, I'm 16 now and still a complete noob at it. I haven't really started wearing it yet. Blame the laziness.

2. How did you get into makeup?
-Youtube! It started from watching Youtube makeup how-to videos (and I have no idea how I started watching those) from the likes of frmheadtotoe and Michelle Phan.

3. What are some of your favorite brands?
- Elianto, Silkygirl, L'Oreal, Maybelline, Essence.

4. What does makeup mean to you?
- A way of expressing oneself through art :) Also to bring out natural beauty, instead of concealing oneself.

5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face, what would they be?
-Lipbalm, eyeliner, neutral eyeshadow, mascara.

6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?
- Um, makes me feel better about the way I look.

7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs high end makeup?
- I prefer drugstore makeup, because it's way more affordable and sometimes the quality measures up to high end makeup as well. High end makeup is nice/tempting, but out of my budget.

8. What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?
- I'm a beginner myself so I can't say much for that matter :P I guess, practice? Work at one bit at a time, so you don't get messed up trying to do so many things at once.

9. What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube?
 - Can get a lot of tips about makeup from them :) Yays.

10. What is one makeup trend you never understood?
-Does spray tans count? O_o. Haha, umm ..wearing so much makeup, to the point you look artificial.

A couple of things I purchased from FF, in honor of it's shutting down.

Skirts from Adelinecp :) A little bit short though, so I'm worried about how to wear them :( RM 38 for both.

Black lace dress from lita. It's beautiful, and because of the elastic band around the waist, I look thinner :P Also a little shorter than I usually wear though :( It's still a gorgeous dress.

Lace dress from cavy :) A cream colored dress from F-block. Very nice, a bit short though. One of the worst things about being tall-ish.

This is one of the #lessthanthree(!!) dresses. The halter dress is just yum :3 From blossom. Got it for RM20 I think. The material is lycra, if I'm not wrong. It's really smooth and silky feeling. Wearing with a belt accentuates the waist. (When did I become an expert on this? LOL)

Cotton on floral dress from elynnheng :) It's one of my favorites to be honest :3 The pattern is so pretty, and it's not as short as the other dresses I bought.

All the dresses were less than RM40. Which is definitely worth it. Since FF is shutting down, most of the members (me included) are moving to another app called Carousell. Doubt I'll be using it until the official website comes up though.

Note: All photos were taken by their respective pre-owners.

And that's it for now :)

Till next time!

Would You Miss Me When I'm Gone?

Hey there!

A tiny important announcement for those of you who use Google Reader to follow blogs: GR will be officially shutting down on 1 July 2013. There will be a replacement coming out on 26 July 2013, but I'm not sure if the blogs you follow will completely *POOF!* or magically appear in the new reader. So, I recommend websites like BlogLovin to ensure that the blogs you follow, do not *poof*. I've just started using it, and so far, I find it quite yum :3 They have sections for "Popular posts" and "Top blogs" as well, it's easy to discover new stuff by browsing through the categories. And I'm not promoting it btw, LOL.

Anyways, it's been a busy week so far, and I'm exhausted. All I want to do is stay at home, bury myself in blankets with a cup of Milo and some biscuits, and just read a book by Julia Quinn <3 That sounds like a dream day. But here I am, back from a bleugh day at school, unable to sleep or read because my mind has been programmed to do other stuff. Yay.

I call it a "bleugh" day because it was simply that. A typical day at school where I just want to run back home instead of facing down a headache-y day that makes me spend the rest of my morning frowning like a real Scrooge. All I want to do is read, write, play musical instruments and SLEEP. Why can't our life be a little more like Camp Half Blood, Camp Jupiter or Hogwarts? Sure, there will be monsters and trolls lurking about every corner, a great possibility of death, lots of pain and broken ankles but at least SOMETHING'S happening. I wish the subjects I take were a little "Ommph." instead of "Aiyah." I want to study something that makes me go "Wow! :3 Yum yum." not "Argh darn it! Not THIS topic again!" Pssh. *slap slap* Against my better judgment, I have ranted yet again. Sorry. *Lets out a deep breath* Maybe I should just climb up the roof for a little bit of thrill.

On to better news, managed to "learn" a song on the piano, about 50% down :) Yay! I can play most of the notes with a bunch of mistakes (as usual) and I've gotten the hang of the tune so far. Even managing to look 7 pages of piano sheets without fainting dead away is already an incredible achievement for me :) Step two will be making less mistakes, memorizing the piece, playing it the way it should sound and I'll be done.

A mistake I used to make frequently was trying to do all of the above at once, instead of one step at a time. And my impatience usually just makes me toss the whole piece aside and forgot about it entirely. So an advice to you would be: Don't rush things. Just let the notes play out and you'll be fine :D If you can, watch Youtube videos of the song you're trying to learn. It usually helps when you already understand how the song goes. Even better would be to get the exact music sheet of the song the pianist in the video is playing, cause every cover/transcription differs, depending on the composer/transcriber.

And that's it for now :) Till next time!

Piercings, Books & Life.

Hey there! :)

About the nose piercing I mentioned in the previous post, please don't take me seriously on that :P I might have THOUGHT of it, but I won't actually do it because I'm not insane enough to want my parents to kill me.

I find belly piercings, nose piercings and other-body-parts-besides-the-ears piercings cool, but personally I'd never do them myself. For one thing, my parents would object :P And for another, I'm far too chicken to do it. I also get pretty squeamish when I think about body piercings and tattoos. It's the process that kinda creeps me out :(

I've pierced my ears six times in my whole lifetime. Yeap, six. But I only have four piercings, due to the fact that my second set of piercings were re-piercings :( Wouldn't mind one or two more piercings on my earlobe though :3

Chances are, I won't have piercings anywhere besides my earlobes :( It's probably the safest and causes less pain than other places. Cartilage and other ear piercings besides the earlobe can be dangerous if done by an inexperienced piercer or by the wrong tool.

Speaking of which, I never realized that piercing guns are far more damaging to health compared to piercing needles. Apparently it causes more infection and can cause severe trauma to the ear/anywhere else O__o. Which is crazy, because I never blamed the piercing gun for my severe ear infection last year, but apparently the piercing gun WAS the cause of it happening. I want to see someone's ear pierced by a piercing needle, I've never seen it in person before. Only in Youtube videos. Sigh :(

I've been to Aeon for the past two days, first time shopping for food (yum) which I couldn't pass up on, and the second time with Ryan and A.A. to buy him some new jeans. Managed to sneak off and bought three sets of diamond-ish earring studs, because I lost a pair last week. I'm quite proud of myself for not overspending this time. HAHA.

Went to Popular to look around for some books. I'm not sure what insane person placed "Once Upon A Tower" by Eloisa James in the Chicklit section. Among the Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girls books. Last time I'd check, Eloisa James is a Romance novels author, not chicklit. -__- There is a huge difference between chicklit and romance, fyi. There's a lot of different opinions, but the baseline is Chicklit centers more towards reality, usually the main character is someone working an office job, with a real (usually messed up/complicated) life who meets so-and-so and this-and-that happens, all in the sense of reality. Tops off with a new-found understanding and meaning of life. Romance centers more towards fantasy, and happily-ever-afters are much more common there.

I'd say chicklit is more for entertainment, and romance for the wonderful, mushy feeling of "Oh it's love! " and the amazing aftertaste of mooning around dreaming and imagining an alternate reality with happy endings. Personally, chicklit tends to leave me with mixed feelings. I've never really loved a chicklit book a 100 percent, even books by some of my favorite authors. I'm never sure if I want to applaud the heroine and hero, or to smack them both silly. Not so fond of mentions of brands either. I.E. "She puts on her Jimmy Choo shoes, her Gucci handbag and her Versace something." Oh and, "Lightly mists her skin with Chanel No. 5." Call me crazy but too much mentions of brands makes me cross-eyed.

Romance on the other hand, if written by a talented author, is simply enchanting :3 Madness I know. I've read 4 romance books in the past 3 weeks (busy life, you know) and I'm fallen in love with all of them. It's difficult to explain, but you'll understand if you ever felt that way :)

Crime fiction books: Usually quite gory and tainted with blood, most books contain a lot of violence and bad words, leaves you with the same feeling you had when you discovered that serial killers are VERY real and do in fact exist.

Humor: Everyone needs a good laugh right? :)

Horror: Not recommended if you have a very vivid imagination like I do, otherwise it's extremely interesting and leaves you with goosebumps.

Mystery & Thriller: Mysterious? Well duh.

Non-fiction: Depends on the book.

Autobiography: Not really fond of most, but sometimes a good one does pop out.

Anyway, there are a ton of genres so I won't be writing about them all :) Just some of the general ones.

With that said, a good writer always knows when to stop writing. So please, for those authors who've written not a trilogy, not a 4 in 1 series but a 11-in-one series. STOP TORTURING US. And that eleventh book isn't even the last book -__- I could wait till I die and I still won't know what happens in the end.

And this is where I stop :)

P.S. Catching Fire is coming out soon! :) I wonder if the C.F. logo will be sold like the mockingjay necklaces.

P.P.S. I want fake diamond studs earrings, but I only see fancy-smancy ones being sold :'( Temptation has some but no blue studs. And it's ridiculously expensive too. Sigh.
 Gorgeous. Sigh.

Cause That's What She Said.

Hey there! :)

One more day till weekend comes , the wonderful time when I can finally sleep in peace without wanting to murder the inventor of alarm clocks.

There's so many things I'd like to do, but so little time to do it :(

  • Learn at least one new song on the piano (I've been slacking like crazy since the hols started)
  • BUY more books (paperback versions, instead of e-books)
  • Sell off clothes and books I don't want/need anymore.
  • Eat more chocolate.
  • WRITE something, after delaying for almost 3 years. Inspiration should strike soon.
  • Get off my lazy bum and actually exercise, instead of talking about doing it. Oh, sweet sweet Taman Rakyat :(
  • Make friendship bracelets :3
  • Craft, craft, craft.
Have-to-do list:
  • Study. Blegh.
  • Go to tuition.
  • Study again. (Didn't someone once say that studying is a student's job? -_-)
And everything else on that list is identical to the ones listed above. Which one sounds more appealing to you? If you say the latter, I might just have to smack you into oblivion. Haha, just kidding. Everyone's entitled to their own preferences.

But really la. Sure, we're students and we get that studying is important. But don't you think that other things like developing talents, learning skills and practicing moral values are important as well? If every student swotted like every day's a test, we'll be a living nightmare of zombie clones, Thinking, working and living for the same reason: To be an achiever in studies. Where's the spice in that? Studying is not a competition, you don't do it to beat others and gloat about it, you do it for YOURSELF, so that you'll be able to secure yourself a good life in the future.

I absolutely hate it when teachers/adults walk in the room and say "Hey, you're not studying ah? Don't care about your studies, is it?" when we've just spent the last hour or so, finishing our homework. Ex-cu-seee-moi. As essential as it is to be good in studies, our lives does not just revolve around studies and NOTHING but studies. What's that saying? All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. And also a very unhappy one at that.

Don't you know that teenagers are a cross between adults and kids? At this stage, we learn about responsibilities, what happens when we leave school (the outside world), how the world works, politics, economy and all the stuff adults are supposed to know. But we also need time to let loose and go a little crazy. To be able to do things in our youth that we'll remember and tell tales of when we're old and gray. And when I say go crazy, I don't mean take drugs or get drunk or even smoke cigars. I mean breathing in the fresh air, doing silly things with our friends and making lifelong memories.

And don't forget about things that matter more that studies: Manners & personality for one. Who would hire/admire a smart (genius really) person with absolutely no manners and a personality that's not worth two cents of his brains? Those things matter too. What about musical talent? Artistic talent? Those things aren't things we learn in school, but they still count, don't they? (And no, I do not consider Seni classes of much use these days). Skills: Repairing a bike, cooking a meal, spending on a budget (being thrifty), starting a fire (and not in houses), doing laundry and etc. Those things you'd have to do when you don't live with your folks anymore. Aren't those supposed to be taught as well? You can't exactly expect someone to go out in the world and know exactly how everything works, from going to the bank to paying mortgages, unless that person is some extremely cautious person who thinks ahead and googled everything beforehand.

Just realized being a teenager isn't all that fun. The amount of drama (and I don't mean in shows) and pressure I see/face today is almost too much to bear. Not to mention I get bored of routine so easily, sometimes I feel like climbing up the roof and staying there like a hobo. Am constantly getting pressured to study (urgh) harder and being the stubborn oaf I am, I rebel instead. Sure, it's for my "own good" but NEIN. NEIN. I don't like being told what to do, especially when you're insulting me to my face and stomping me down. Manners la dei. If you told me to do so nicely, I won't be so upset about it.

Neways, school today: Good. Sleep in class: Chec- almost. Listen to teacher: 50/100 sort of. Laugh and discuss things that aren't relevant to school: Definitely. Read a book after jotting down notes: Of course! Try to learn Mandarin and utterly fail at it: Oh yeah! Talk to pork-heads who haven't talked to me since before the holidays but tried to kick me? You guessed it, YES. And that pretty much sums up an end to a wonderful (almost) school day with almost no drama at all right? Unfortunately no. Drama still going on. Geez, high school girls. Course I shouldn't say that since I'm one, myself but you get the point. I don't think it's anyone's fault, but hey, these things happen and I'm not really one to interfere with other people's business, especially when it has almost nothing to do with me. Thank God I've cut myself off from people online. Not even going to bother taking sides, because I'm neutral in this matter.

Flying turtles, you've got my vote :)

P.S. I really want to get my nose pierced. Does it hurt? HAHA. Will my mum kill me? Oh yeah.

Till next time!

It's Nothing To Worry About.

Hey there!

So school week has finally begun after weeks of freedom. The first thing I noticed was that some people were being extremely kan cheong (flustered) about the mid-term exam results.

Among the few common phrases were:
  • Oh my God! I FAILED . Damn damn! My parents/dad/mum going to kill me de!
  • S*** man, if get like this for mid-term, finals how?
  • *Sobs* Cannot believe I fail, I study so hard! *sad face*
  • Urgh, I hate Add Maths/Physics/Chemistry!

When anyone asks me about my results, I'd just say "Oh, got a A/B/C/D." They'll say "Eh, not scared finals fail ah? What about SPM?" I replied "There's always room for improvement mah. Fail once or twice..or even a few times doesn't mean that your life is over la." Someone even said I was too 'chill' with it, but really, I don't think there's any point in overreacting over marks of tests that was weeks ago. Sure, we should try to improve and work harder at it, but then again what's the point in crying your heart out over a silly piece of paper? Just do more revision on the exam format and pay more attention in class la. There's really no need to be so down about failing a paper, when (especially when) everyone else has failed it with you.

Another thing I can't stand is teachers who compare students according to their grades and nothing more. I'm not saying this to be mean, but really. So what if we aren't straight As students like your other supposedly-perfect students who focus on nothing but getting the highest marks in school? Sure, they should be applauded for being hardworking and for being geniuses, but shouldn't you take into consideration that although your not-so-smart students aren't all that smart and do not have memory spans of elephants, they're still gifted in other ways (music, art, sports) and saying (or implying) "You won't go anywhere in life if you aren't as smart as XY and/or YY" is really NOT appreciated and not necessary. I'd be the first to admit my class is a cross between the "I want to study" type of students and "I really want to sleep in class" type of student, and most occasionally being BOTH at the same time (lol), but we're an awesome bunch at any rate. Why?

First off, we clean the classroom (doing all sorts of dirty work that most classes don't even bother about) and work together without complaining, "Aiyah cikgu! SO DIRTY LAH." In fact, we do it laughing and with good-natured smiles. Secondly, we get along with each other like a breeze. No racial disharmony or catfights ever happen in our class (except for the occasionally butt kicking) And last and foremost, we aren't that NOISY (except in Moral class) and we usually do our work without kicking up a huge fuss about it (though we do grumble)

To be honest, the only subject I care about is English. The others I only try to pass at the very least because failure is not acceptable -__- I already know where I wanna go in life. I have very little to no interest in Physics, Chemistry and Add Maths. Not a fan of Economics, Accounts, Art and etc either. That's kinda what happens when options are so limited. What about the students who are interested in fields that aren't available till they go to college? What happens to them, huh? Do they have to spend years of studying things they have no interest in, just to pass SPM and go to college, so they can finally learn what they really want to learn? Where's the logic in that? Are we supposed to go overseas if we really need to, just to find a school that accommodates to our needs and spend thousands of dollars for it?

I'm not all that into science subjects, but I don't really have much options to go on. Sometimes, I think it'd be so much easier to drop out of school, start my own business and live okay-lah ever after, instead of putting up with all the crap subjects in high school and wasting my time learning things that I have nada love for when I can be staying at home, doing things I actually like! Hmph.

Since that's out and over with, onto "happier" topics.

Had an okay time in school today, managed to go home early! :D Yay, jambu ;) Mee En and I gave Daiyana a umm.."birthday present" in her English test paper for not coming today. It's really pretty, trust me (not). Hope she doesn't cry..from happiness.Walked to my sit-spot with Mei Keng and Seh Qi, spotted Jihah and Nab halfway and tried to scare them (not sure if it worked, haha). Mum came early too, so yay :D Back home before 1.30 pm. Had free time for ..half an hour, I think :3 Noticed most of the teachers have recently gotten microphones (clip on kind). New trend?

Found an old mockingjay friendship bracelet pattern that I was supposed to do LAST YEAR. Sometimes procrastination really slaps me in the face. In fact, I can barely recall the last time I actually made a friendship bracelet :( Also found some new patterns to work on, so if I ever get started on those, I'll probably be MIA from here for at least 3 years. HAHA.

till next time!

Just Want To Fly Away.

Hey guys!

Holidays are almost over. I don't want to go back to school next week, but I do :( Contradictory feelings. Sure, I miss my friends, classmates and all the amazing things about school. But I'd also hate waking up early in the morning, not being able to see my kittens, studying, wearing that confounded uniform get the point -__-. Well at least I won't have to moan around saying "There's nothing fun to do anymore." when there is, but I'm just too lazy to :P

Friendly Fashion is officially closing in July. I might have lost my mind when I heard the news. HAHA. Good news is my wallet won't be suffering anymore, bad news is no more shopping for preloved stuff there and hanging out in the amazing forums. Oh well :( Just hope it'll come back soon someday. Was introduced to a pretty long list of insta shops though :) Can't wait to check it out. Insta shops are basically online shops on Instagram, if you're confused.

Bros have been going out a lot lately, shopping (I can't believe it either) and/or watching movies. Or just chilling with their friends. I'm jealous, but still glad (and feeling rather lazy) to be able to stay at home, watching tv shows, playing with the kittens, eating chocolate and learning new songs on the piano :) What can I say? Home is where MY heart is <3 It's a pretty huge change from being someone who can't stand to stay in one place for a long time, much less stay at home and actually enjoy it.  I'm so comfortable at home now , it scares me. For years, I've always thought that I wanted to travel and see the world, but now I can hardly leave the house without wanting to stay here. Maybe I really am a homely person. Homely has two meanings, for your information :P

Something I often mention is that things change a lot over the years, whether you expect it or not. 5 years ago, I wouldn't have believed that I'll be interested in girly stuff like dresses and skirts, like colorful colors almost as much as I like black, fall in love with my piano, have an interest in mythologies and actually care about what I look like. I was a kid who ran around with dirt-streaked clothes and messy hair, and who constantly got into scrapes and got scratches all over my hands and legs. Oh yeah, and who preferred books to the computer :P Things that haven't changed are little stuff like still loving cats, still loving chocolate, still like black things and still prefers books to any form of technology. With the exception of Kindles and whatever else one can read books with :D I don't wanna grow up anymore :(

Alright, enough of reminiscing.

Aren't toga dresses pretty? I like them because they remind me of Grecian dressing :3

On duty for praise and worship this Sunday. I think I'll be quitting the team in September. I'm already overwhelmed by Rangers and any extra duties just leaves me exhausted by the end of the day.

Oh well, till next time!

RR National Training Camp: My Experience (Sort of)

Hey there!'re looking at a full-fledged NTC graduate! :D Well, not really "looking" per say. HAHA.

Well it's good to be home again! Sitting here in my pajamas, eating KitKat bars and watching some cats vandalize my house :P

First off, I'm not allowed to talk about certain things that's happened because you know the saying "What Happens In NTC, stays in NTC " . But I will write about some of the best (and worse! jeng jeng jeng jeng) parts of NTC. I guess Commander Kwang Yew has the right to tell me "I told you so!" now. HAHA. Although I only enjoyed 80% of the camp. You'll see why later.

NTC wasn't as horrid as I expected it to be. (I can't believe I just said that but okay) We learned almost the same stuff we learned in JTC, with an addition of water safety and leadership skills training. Had 6 patrols (and 42 trainees): Fire Fox (my patrol), Swagalicious Owls, Roaring Tigers, Teddy Bears, Brosome Bobcats (nothing really gay about it...Brroooommannncceee <- First thought when I heard their name), and Lightning Eagles. My patrol adviser was Commander Jim :)

The walking wasn't as bad as I'd expected it to be either. I only got sore feet when I came back home, haha. Could be because of the removable insoles I asked Dad to buy the night before I left :P So comfy and cushion-y. Did walk a lot though. I think I've lost a lot of weight, but I'll be sure to gain them back with all the chocolate in the fridge. HAHA.

A lot of familiar faces at camp O_o.  Had severely mixed feelings during the first two days. Teddy Bears has a song, a part of it says "Teddy's here and we don't wanna go home" (They sang it really nice btw, really cute and fluffy like.) and I couldn't help thinking "I REALLY wanna go home." I'm the kind of person who can't stay far from home very long. I'd usually get really grumpy and easily irritated (even if I don't show it) because I miss home. Not the precious washing machine, shower, bed, computer, piano and fridge (although I did miss those a bit), but the LIVING things. My cats, kittens, family and that feeling of knowing that's where I belong. That's what I miss the most. I also tend to get sarcastic at times but thankfully, this time I managed to hold my tongue.

On the other hand, starting fires (not the forest kind la), eating yummilicious food, laughter, and having fun classes wasn't all too bad either.Oh yeah, and the council fires were pretty awesome too. It shames me to admit this, but I fell asleep in Pastor Mike's first aid class. HAHA. With my eyes OPEN. In fact, my brain fell asleep a lot during the day, but I didn't get caught because my body was awake. Pastor Mike has this joke " My name is Mike Kuna, so mai kun ah" Really need to learn how to spell Chinese words -_- The bold words means "don't sleep" So, he's saying "Don't sleep in my class" technically. I remember a time when I fell asleep when looking off in the distance, (eyes open remember) and didn't realize I was staring at someone till I woke up. I'm still in that dream-like state at the moment, just like when I came back from Camporama. Waiting till I crash back to reality, hehe.

I guess one thing I didn't really like about camp was all the rushing. Had to change into our uniforms about three times a day. I made things easier by wearing shorter pants and a t-shirt, so I didn't have to worry about wasting time cause I could hide the fact I'm wearing clothes inside my uniform. Time management is very important apparently. Wasn't so fond of carrying pails of water either (which I did a lot). Carried other stuff too, like a pail of sand, firewood (with flipping NAILS on it, yikes), bakau wood (which was extremely heavy), food stuff and goodness knows what else. It wasn't as as carrying water though. The water splashed at me like crazy, till my shirt were soaked.

The songs and yells from every patrol was one of the best parts. Some patrols' songs and yells were cute and adorable (aww) and others were pretty hilarious. Every single patrol was full of energy and spirit too. The part I looked most forward to was the council fires. The first one was more towards a friendly and funny theme and it was enjoyable :) The second one was a very spiritual one. It was raining then, so we sang songs and had devotion and alter call while getting soaked :D I'll talk about the last later.

Some things I have to mention are:
  • Attitude problems: You find out a lot of stuff about people that you don't know about when you're in training camps. I got pretty pissed off (excuse the language) several times because of someone who was absolutely incapable of being polite. Let's just say, when someone calls your name (in a nice manner nonetheless), you aren't supposed to give them exasperated expressions and say "What?!" as though that person has been asking you illogical questions for hours. It makes me want to soccer-punch you in the face, and I would have if I hadn't had a good hold of my temper. I'm sorry, but you made me feel that way.
  •           When did it start being okay to be rude just because you can? Also, some people think that sarcasm is okay, just because everyone does it. But it's not if you go too far. Remember to always be courteous and mind your manners, please. If someone asks you a logical question, don't say "ABUDEN." or "Of course la! What do you think?" like you're annoyed at the person for merely speaking to you. Whenever people do that to me, I go on silent strikes. Meaning I don't talk to them for hours, days, months or years (depending on how annoyed I am) unless I have to. Even then, I'd limit my sentences so that we don't have conversations.
  • Take Things Easy.  I get that things don't go according to schedule at times, but you gotta learn to be patient and endure whatever comes your way. Don't flip out every time something goes wrong out, of panic and complain whenever it happens. I'm known for being too calm and having a it's-alright-I-don't-really-care attitude when I'm supposed to be freaking out and saying " WHY GOD? WHY ME? DIE DIE DIE." I don't panic much over little things. When people get too worried about things that don't really matter (at least to me), I sigh and say "Be patient, little one!" <- know that quote? ;) ;) I recall a time when I got caned for not doing something (probably homework) in school, and just before that, all I was hoping for was that it'd be over fast. I didn't worry about the pain, cause that would have gone away. The dread was much more worse than the caning itself. I did complain a little when the lorry was late and we (Selangor 1# trainees) had to wait for almost two hours till we could finally go home. But mostly I was okay with it because we were going home anyway, even if it was a little later than we expected.
During the first council fire, we sang the "I wish I was an apple, hanging on a tree" song. Cmdr KY asked to recommend some names and the guys at the back yelled "Kwang Yew-na!" Oh fluffy cats, that was so funny! HAHA.

It rained on the second night, and our tent got pretty wet here and there. After getting back from the council fire, I was so tired, I slipped off my uniform and buried myself in my sleeping bag. We couldn't stay up to finish spare time projects or anything because the rain was too heavy. Carol and Joanna didn't want to sleep in a wet tent, so they went to find Commander Kwang Yew. I was too tired to care, so I took a short snooze while they were gone and ended up falling asleep. Some of my stuff got pretty wet though :( But it's okay.

The THIRD day was the best, for sure. (We got to do things our own way, yay!) Took all our extra baggage and tossed it in the van. We left on our backpacking trip around 3.30 pm (I think) and used a compass to find our way to the new campsite. Some commanders lied to us, saying it'd take us HOURS to reach the place but it really only took less than 30 minutes (or so it seems). We went up a very narrow path (could fall down if you weren't careful enough) with terribly uneven ground, plants poking at us, some fallen trees blocking our way. Went downwards again and saw the river we had to cross. Before crossing it, I prayed and asked God to make sure I don't get bitten by leeches. I hate getting bitten by creepy crawlies. Had to walk in the water (with sports shoes on) at one point because I was afraid that I'd fall backwards if I tried walking on the smaller rocks with all the stuff I was carrying. Went up another narrow path again, and finally reached the campsite. Lots of people were saying "What la, commander?!" and grumbling about the commanders making us take a longer and harder path when there was a way we could have used without crossing the river. HAHA. I took off my socks and pulled off my shoes on a whim. Found a LEECH stuck in one of my insoles and had to throw it off. Thank God I checked my shoes before I wore them. *wipes brow*

Set up our tents first, then we (Carol, Joanna and I) went to help prepare the food for dinner. Tinfoil cooking :) Cinnamon apples and burgers. Yummy yummy. We used the hand sanitizer before touching the food. I helped with cutting up the apples with Michelle. I don't know whose penknife I used, but it was super sharp and really nice to use :3 Lovely blue color too. There was extra burger buns, so we ate some of them. Some of the guys were doing the push up square like this:

To entertain the girls? HAHA. Idk, but it was really cool.

We wanted to start dinner/campfire early but Don kept saying "Wait, it's not dark yet!" So the girls practiced their skit for the council fire and learned a new song from the girls from Indonesia called "Ku Daki-Daki Daki-Daki Gunung Yang Tinggi" The title in English would be something like "I climbed a high mountain" (?) It was a really cute and catchy song :3 The guys practiced their own skit and prepped the fire. Ate one plain burger, but it still tasted great. The gave us about a 100 burger buns but only 42 patties. What? O_o.

The council fire was amazing <3. Sang about 5 songs, had about 3 skits and there was a lot of laughter and fun. Jon Chin (I think) shared devotion and he mimicked Pastor Mike's introduction in a really funny way. He talked about eyesight and seeing things in a spiritual manner. I'm pretty bad at explaining this part. HAHA. A lot of people there wore glasses though. And it wasn't just for trend:P The skits were hilarious and crazy. Almost choked to death laughing because everyone was insanely funny. We sang the "Daki Daki " (some people thought it was Ducky-Ducky, lols) song and everyone was really into it, because the actions was fun.

The rest of the night went on the same way. We managed to finish before 10, which was a miracle because usually we don't sleep until after 12 am in camp, so we turned in early. Since none of us were tired, we stayed up for a while, talking about dimples, boyfriends, school experiences, family love and all the stuff girls talked about before we fell asleep one by one. It was nice for a change :) That day was probably the only day we didn't have to rush and got to take our own sweet time doing what we wanna do.

Woke up early the next day. And for the first time, I didn't feel half-asleep. HAHA. Took down our tent and went to brush our teeth before walking back to the open-air hall (also known as the Asoka). We changed into our uniforms before the continental breakfast. The breakfast was wonderful, incredible, amazing and I can't think of anything else to describe it but it was just FANTASTIC. Ate bread and butter, mushrooms, bacon, sausages, eggs and I forgot what else. We even got some bah kut teh :D And drank orange not-really-juice-but-I-forgot-what-it's-called. Ate till I was full and gave the leftover bacon to Stephen.

The NTC presentation was interesting to say the least. The last time we did our song and yell :D Tigers, Bobcats and Eagles did all their songs and yells together so they sounded louder. *Facepalm* Genius! Everyone graduated :) Yay! Got the gold medal too.

After that, it was just taking photos and saying goodbye to everyone. Pastor Mike asked me to take photos for him but I kept forgetting and putting down the camera without thinking. LOL. We went back later than the others because we had to wait for Commander William and he had to wait for the van, so we were stuck there for a while :( It wasn't all too bad though. Finally came home and hugged every cat in the house :D Meow.

A-nee-ways, I'm glad I went :) There were far more pros than cons. I'm still relieved it wasn't any longer than four days though. HAHA.

I'm still glad to be home :)

Advanced National Training Camp? Might be going, might not be. HAHA. We shall see :D

Till next time!
